About Us:
Jim Pirochta has been hunting and fishing since he can remember. 20 years ago, he focused his interest to fly fishing. Mr. Pirochta learned quickly and now has the knowledge and skills to find and catch trophy brown trout. Mr. Pirochta is an expert in dry fly fishing and has developed some effective hex patterns. “After many hours of on the water testing, I have come up with a high riding, indestrucible hex pattern that flat out catches fish”
Jim has lived in Michigan his whole life and has a family that loves the outdoors as much as he does. He served in the US NAVY for 4 years including the time during Desert Storm. After returning, Mr Pirochta picked up where he left off: fly fishing on the upper manistee river. Jim has also developed into a tremendous steelhead and salmon fisherman. If the big boys are your cup of tea, Jim is the man to the lead to them.
John Hayes has been fly fishing for 15 years. While attending college, Mr. Hayes was introduced to fly fishing and hasn’t looked back. He has developed a taste for chasing brown trout into the middle of the night. “This is a spectacular time to be on the water as most people have left to retire for the night. There is nothing like floating by a bear in pitch darkness... gets your attention!”
John has honed his casting skills chasing weary trout on the upper manistee river. Drawing upon teaching skills he has learned in the medical research field, Mr. Hayes is able to handle all clients no matter what skill level. Mr. Hayes believes that a day on the water ought to put a smile on your face. With this in mind, Mr. Hayes adapts to the client. He is able to teach the fundamentals of fly fishing, entomolgy and sportsmanship to novice clients and give a critical analysis to expert casters.
